Early appearances document initial production runs prior to full retail standardization, with minor variations observed across early-issued pairs.

Jordan first wore the Air Jordan V in February 1990, with rotation increasing through the latter half of the season and into the postseason. The model remained in consistent use during this period, with multiple pairs documented across regular season and playoff play, reflecting its role as the primary performance model through the conclusion of the 1989–90 campaign and start of the 1990-91 season.
